This is per-capita average footprint, not your personal bill.
Confidence is low-medium; based on rounded annual per-capita estimates divided by 365.
What this metric tells you
Carbon footprint is one of three country-sensitive metrics in this product. For the national average the daily rate is 15.07 kg CO₂ (about 5,500 kg per year). For the global average it is 12.87 kg CO₂ (about 4,700 kg per year). Ever Since Birth multiplies your birth date by this rate. The result is not your personal bill breakdown, but the national or global per-capita average spread over time.
That distinction matters. Flights, heating type, and meat consumption change your real footprint; the calculator does not ask about them. Only your country choice changes which average is used.
Confidence is low-medium. Values come from dividing rounded annual per-capita estimates by 365. They are not a line-by-line verified personal footprint, and we do not claim false precision.
The card unit is kg; over ten years it reaches tonnes. Country selection changes the result. On the home page you can see electricity and total water for the same country alongside this card.
The explanation states limits and method. It does not preach climate policy—it helps you understand the scale of an average footprint.
Deep dive
The kg CO₂ you see is not your personal bill—it is your country’s per-capita average emission applied from birth to today. For Türkiye the daily figure is about 15 kg; for the global average about 13 kg. Flights, heating, and diet are not asked separately; only country choice changes the rate.
The numbers come from dividing rounded annual per-capita estimates by 365. They are not line-by-line verified personal footprints, but they offer an honest sense of scale. This is not climate preaching—it is accumulated average impact.
On the home page you can compare electricity and total water use for the same country.
How does your carbon footprint become kilograms?
Per-capita annual CO₂ (tonnes) is read from an Our World in Data snapshot, converted to kg/day, and multiplied by seconds since birth. Country selection is decisive for this metric.

Core formula
result = seconds lived × (daily rate ÷ 86,400)
86,400 is seconds in one day. The daily rate is divided by that to get a per-second pace; multiplied by seconds since birth it yields total accumulation.
Step by step
01
Load the country snapshot
Annual per-capita CO₂ data for the selected country or global average is retrieved.
02
Convert tonnes/year to kg/day
Annual tonnes are multiplied by 1,000 and divided by 365.25 to get daily kg CO₂.
03
Transport and diet multipliers
The survey roughly adjusts the daily rate to reflect transport and diet preferences.

What it means
Not an official emissions inventory — a personal scale comparison using country averages.
